Registered Nurse - Outpatient
Location: Bethel, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Deliver patient care through the nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Direct and coordinate nursing care based on nursing practice standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care.
- Serve as a resource person when needed.
- Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
- Care for patients from birth to elderly.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Ambulatory Care, with at least 1 year of Ambulatory Care experience within the last year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to practice nursing independently within prescribed limits.
- Knowledge and ability to manage care across the continuum.
- Ability to administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient/family education.
- Basic EKG skills and familiarity with medical equipment relevant to the position (e.g., EKG, cystoscopy).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to document care delivery accurately and follow guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from various audiences.
- Cognitive and technical knowledge of nursing process, care management, and continuity of care.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and ability to interpret graphs and compute rates/ratios/percentages.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supervise unit secretaries and patient care technicians (PCTs) in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
- Flexible with work schedule.
Shift
- Monday through Friday
Notes
- Orientation starts on a Tuesday; guaranteed hours may not apply during the first week if 40 hours/week is guaranteed thereafter.
