Description

Registered Nurse – Endoscopy

Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (Monday to Friday)
Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week


Unit Information

  • Department: Endoscopy / GI Lab
  • Number of suites: 5
  • Nurse-to-room ratio: 1 RN per room
  • Surgical techs available in the department
  • No respiratory therapy equipment used (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

  • Intra-operative circulation nurse (no sedation administered)
  • Common procedures: EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, EMR, Hemorrhoid banding
  • Knowledge of endoscopy procedures and equipment required
  • Call requirements:
    • Approximately 3 weeknights per month (7 AM – 3 PM) to finish cases
    • 1 weekend per month call (7 AM – 3 PM, Saturday and Sunday) with possible additional weekends due to nursing rotation
    • Holiday call (7 AM – 3 PM)
  • Call response time: 30 minutes, usually flexible
  • No floating requirements
  • Dress code: Scrubs worn in-house

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
  • Minimum of 2 years of endoscopy experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Must submit an active driver’s license at time of application
  • Must be within a 50-mile radius for commuting

Orientation & Scheduling

  • Unit-specific orientation provided
  • No self-scheduling or block scheduling; cases assigned via a number system

Additional Notes

  • This position does not require sedation administration
  • Experience with endoscopy equipment and procedures is essential
  • Call and weekend coverage is part of the role with a structured rotation system
