Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Morgantown, West Virginia

Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day/Night rotating
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
• Unit Beds: 28 total beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2 and 1:1
• Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
• Orientation: 1 week, 12-hour shifts rotating day/night including weekends and holidays as scheduled

Patient Population & Care

• Common patient types: Cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, ECMO, LVAD, and heart transplant patients
• Critical care drips including inotropes and sedation must be titrated by RNs
• Telemetry monitoring is used; RNs must be able to read cardiac strips
• Support staff includes 1-3 CNAs per unit, 1 charge nurse, 2 house supervisors, intensivists and advanced practice providers available 24/7, and respiratory therapists available 24/7 with ventilator and non-invasive ventilation equipment

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Scheduling & Work Requirements

• Weekend minimums:

  • Day shift: 3 scheduled weekend days
  • Night shift: 2 scheduled weekend days
  • Rotating shift: 3 scheduled weekend days
  • Must work 1 Friday and 1 Monday unless classified as a weekender (weekenders exempt from Monday requirement)
• Holiday work integrated into permanent staff holiday rotation
• No call or standby requirements

Submission & Eligibility Notes

• Candidates can only be submitted to one position at a time within the system
• Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after completing at least 1 full year on the unit
• Travel teams must be submitted together
• Only 2 candidates can be submitted per opening; additional submissions may be held until a spot opens
