Description
Sonographer (Vascular) – Temp Position
Location: Waterloo, Iowa
Shift: Days
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Perform approximately 15 scans per day on general, OB/GYN, and vascular patients.
- Experience with abdomen, small parts, and OB imaging (1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester non high-risk) including dating, measurements, BPPs, and fetal anatomy scans.
- Perform transabdominal and transvaginal gynecologic imaging.
- Conduct upper and lower venous doppler, lower arterial doppler, ABIs, aorta duplex, carotid arterial doppler, hepatic and renal doppler exams.
- Preferred experience assisting with fine needle aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis procedures.
- Use EPIC EMR system.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Experience as an Ob/Gyn Sonographer and Vascular Sonographer.
- ARDMS certification.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR system.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Skills checklist specific to Sonographer and/or Vascular discipline.
- Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred.
- First-time travel sonographers accepted if they have at least 2 years of ultrasound experience.
Clinical Skills & Experience Sought
- Abdomen/RUQ with liver vessel evaluation
- Kidneys and bladder imaging
- Pelvic imaging (transabdominal and transvaginal)
- 1st trimester OB (transabdominal and transvaginal)
- Testicle/scrotum evaluation
- DVT and venous evaluation of arms and legs
- Ankle-brachial indices (ABIs)
- Thyroid imaging
- Aorta and carotid artery imaging
- Limited 2nd/3rd trimester OB scans (BPP, measurements, fluid checks)
Work Conditions & Additional Information
- Work 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours.
- Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
- Orientation scheduled for August 10.
- Call back and on-call pay available (details not included here).
- Employee separation policy restricts travel assignments within the same market if previously employed in the last 12 months.
This position is ideal for sonographers with solid vascular and OB/GYN ultrasound experience seeking a temporary assignment with a structured schedule and defined clinical responsibilities.
