Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg (Nights)

Job Overview

• Work primarily on a 30-bed med surg & post-op/spine unit
• Patient care includes medical surgical, post-operative, and spine care
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area
• Night shift position
• Use of EPIC electronic medical record system
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:6
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of medical surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• At least 3 months of total travel nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Strong heparin drip experience
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Work Environment & Additional Details

• 36-40 hours per week standard; overtime billable after 40 hours
• Holiday and overtime pay multipliers apply (details not included here)
• Scrubs: Navy blue solids required
• Charge/preceptor pay available for applicable roles
• Call back and on-call pay available (details excluded)
• Orientation scheduled prior to start date
• Direct clinical screening via phone/text required before hire

This temporary night shift RN position requires a highly experienced medical surgical nurse with strong post-op, spine, and heparin drip skills. Candidates must have recent travel nursing experience and be comfortable floating across multiple hospital campuses. The role involves working with EPIC EMR and requires flexibility to work certain holidays.
