Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Days

Location: Lima, Ohio
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 12


Job Summary

  • Provide patient care on the Progressive Care Unit following clinical protocols.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
  • Make clinical judgments based on scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Float to all units within skill level and scope of practice as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification
  • Post-operative open heart care experience
  • Chest tube and other drain management experience
  • Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access
  • Experience assisting with chest tube removal
  • Experience assisting with removal of pericardial pacing wires
  • Experience managing temporary pacers, including pericardial and transcutaneous devices
  • Experience using and troubleshooting non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices
  • Experience with high-flow oxygen and other oxygen delivery systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Critical care experience is highly preferred.

Additional Information

  • Work history and skills checklist pertinent to PCU must be current within 1 year.
  • Dress code: Navy Blue.
  • Electronic Medical Record system used: MediTech.
  • Bed count on unit: 26.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: approximately 4 or 5 patients per nurse.
  • Nonbillable hours: 8 hours.
  • OT, holiday, and callback pay at 1.25x regular rates.
  • Refusal to float may result in being sent home without pay for the week.
