Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Position
Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU): 4-bed unit focused on adult and geriatric patients recovering post cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other surgical procedures requiring critical care.
- Care includes complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring and post-operative recovery.
- Stepdown Unit (CSU): 8-bed unit for recovery after cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgery.
- Both units emphasize a patient-centered approach and are supported by a cardiovascular educator.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Holidays as required.
- Every other weekend required.
- 36 or 48 hours per week accepted (36 guaranteed hours).
- Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals.
- Dress code: Solid navy scrubs.
- Patient-facing clinical role.
- On-site position (not remote).
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech.
- Parking available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), with CVICU experience within the last year.
- Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Preferred Qualifications
- AHA PALS certification if working in pediatric units (not mandatory for this adult-focused role).
Additional Information
- Must demonstrate high levels of professional competency.
- Position involves critical care nursing with complex patient needs.
