Description

Registered Nurse - Surgery (Travel)

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Work Type: Full Time


Job Summary

  • Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a cardiovascular operating room setting, including open-heart cases.
  • Support general OR cases as needed.
  • Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
  • Demonstrate leadership consistent with professional nursing competencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Operating Room (OR) experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

  • Experience with cardiovascular (open-heart) surgical cases is essential.
  • Ability to support general operating room cases as needed.
  • Return to work (RTO) status must be disclosed upfront before offer.

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
