Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Big Spring, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5x8 hours (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM), 40 hours per week
Start Date: Within the next 3-5 weeks
Job Description
- Operating Room RN with circulating experience required
- Work schedule includes rotating call between two RNs:
- Call days: Monday, Tuesday, Friday through Sunday one week
- Wednesday and Thursday the following week
- Call responsibilities cover general surgery and emergency C-sections
- First day reporting required at a different facility location before resuming contract at Big Spring
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) with consistent legal name across all documents
- Social Security Card with consistent legal name
- Background check: 7-year check required within 30 days of start, including statewide, federal, national, education verification, and international search if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification and diploma submission as needed
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
- Pass/Fail testing during orientation (includes medication administration, restraint, glucometer tests)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Statement, Health Record Form, Orientation) must be completed prior to start
- Passport-style photo for badge
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Fit mask test within 6 months prior to start, annual updates required
- Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with annual TB questionnaire if applicable)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination proof
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or completed series, or signed declination form
- Varicella: positive titer, vaccination, or proof of disease
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31)
- COVID initial vaccination series required (boosters not required)
- Drug testing required within 30 days of start, covering multiple substances; must have plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
References and History
- Two professional references within the last 3 years required
- Copy of resume or employment application required
- Annual skills checklist update required

- Candidates must be prepared for rotating call schedule and emergency surgical situations

- Legal name consistency across all documents is strictly enforced; discrepancies require immediate resolution
