Shift Details

  • Day shift, Monday to Friday
  • 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
  • 40 hours per week
  • No call, float, or weekend requirements

Patient Population & Unit Details

  • Hematologic malignancies
  • Peripheral blood transplant cellular therapy
  • Transplant Coordinators manage patient cases from candidate identification through evaluation, cell harvest, and infusion/transplant
  • Coordinators typically manage 8+ patients simultaneously
  • Work involves scheduling multiple patient appointments and attending interdisciplinary meetings
  • Requires strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Bone Marrow Transplant experience, including experience within the last year
  • Hematology/Oncology nursing experience
  • Navigator/Case Manager and Case Management experience
  • Experience in Acute Care, Outpatient, and Clinic settings
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
  • Knowledge of absolute and relative contraindications to transplant
  • Experience assisting with organ offers, acceptance, and recipient preparation
  • Familiarity with organ allocation process
  • Post-transplant care coordination and monitoring
  • Psychosocial support and education on lifestyle adjustments and medication adherence
  • Recognition and management of transplant complications (infection, rejection, etc.)
  • Understanding of pharmacology relevant to transplant patients
  • Experience with regulatory and administrative compliance, including tracking patient outcomes
  • Assisting with OR scheduling

Required Skills & Systems

  • Proficient with Pyxis and EPIC electronic health record systems
  • Ability to coordinate multiple patient interactions daily (up to 20 visits/interactions)

Orientation & Training

  • 40 hours of unit orientation required, with ongoing training throughout assignment
  • Must complete facility-specific education modules and compliance training prior to start
  • Must complete medication safety training and other required certifications as applicable

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background checks including local, federal, and national databases required within 90 days of start
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (negative 10-panel drug screen)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training required
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility policy
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies including confidentiality agreement, tobacco-free campus acknowledgment, and hospital policies

  • First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not required
  • No weekend or call requirements
  • Scrubs not provided
  • Interview required prior to offer
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, daytime hours only
