Registered Nurse – PCU (Night Shift) – Columbus, Ohio
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Float Requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1–3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Annual fit mask test required for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 (3M 1860/1870+ or Halyard Duckbill masks accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Competency and Testing
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
Dress Code
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Hand hygiene and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed
Parking
- Parking permits available for purchase (various options with different access and costs)
This position offers a night shift travel nursing opportunity in a PCU setting requiring telemetry skills and a minimum of 2 years PCU experience. First-time travel nurses are welcome. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and certifications is mandatory.
