Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)
Location
- Chicago, Illinois
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Weekend rotation required

Required Certifications
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only
- State Respiratory Therapist license (must be verified within 30 days of start)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification
Background Checks and Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including alias, county, and national sex offender searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Employment application and 2 professional references (1 must be from a direct supervisor)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming fitness for duty and freedom from communicable diseases
- N95 mask fit testing within 1 year (not required for sterile processing or clerical roles)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (including surface antigen and antibody titers for renal dialysis assignments)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Dec 1 - Apr 30)
Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for RNs in ICU, PACU, Pediatrics, Telemetry; may be relevant)
- Color blindness test (14 plate Ishihara)
- Unit-specific competency exam within 3 years, updated every 3 years
- Annual mandatory OSHA training
- Core training parts I, II, and III updated annually
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Badge photo with plain white background required 2 weeks prior to start
- Compliance with fingernail policy and completion of facility compliance checklists
- Completion of online training modules prior to orientation (not required for sterile processing techs)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of pediatric respiratory therapy experience within the last year
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
