Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location

Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (L&D)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: Any color
- Mandatory floating within scope of practice as needed by the facility
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with high-risk patients in Labor and Delivery
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Illinois
- Pending licenses are not accepted
Time Off and Scheduling
- Request Time Off (RTO) allowed up to 5 days maximum, no more than 2 consecutive days
- No RTO allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
Local Candidates
- Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted and preferred
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry verification not required for RNs
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD, updated annually
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if history positive
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; testing initiated within 48 hours of signed contract
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for PAPR use
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam within 12 months prior to start
- Color blindness testing within 12 months prior to start
- General competency exam within 12 months prior to start
- Must complete PromisePoint EMR training modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
Additional Notes
- Floating is mandatory as per facility needs
- No call requirements
- No block scheduling
- References and employment application must comply with state and agency standards
