Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (L&D)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: Any color
- Mandatory floating within scope to other units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with high-risk patients in Labor and Delivery
- Certifications required:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Call and Time Off
- No call requirements
- Request Time Off (RTO) allowed up to 5 days maximum, no more than 2 consecutive days
- No RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
Candidate Preferences
- Local candidates preferred (within 75 miles radius)
- Locals receive a lower mileage reimbursement rate
Facility Requirements and Compliance
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must include all aliases and be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually; PPD tests not accepted after 12/15/2025
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 12 months
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Annual fit mask test with approved N95 masks or approved exemption with onsite PAPR use
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually (marijuana not required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
- Completion of PromisePoint EMR training modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 12 months prior to start
- Color blindness testing within 12 months prior to start
- General competency exam within 12 months prior to start
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific onboarding forms with legal name and required signatures
- Floating to other units is mandatory as per facility policy
- No block scheduling for shifts
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with high-risk OB skills seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with structured shifts and comprehensive compliance requirements.
