Job Opportunity: Antepartum Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Women's Special Care – Antepartum
- Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours: 48 hours per week guaranteed (36 or 48-hour shifts available)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5 (weekends 1:4)
- Floating: Required to float per unit needs, primarily to main PCU and up to 10 other PCUs including ED and PACU
- Locals: Not accepted within 100 miles radius
- COVID Vaccine: Optional; facility reports vaccination status
- On-call: Not required
- Block schedule accommodation: Not guaranteed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year required
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate (one required)
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
Clinical Skills & Special Requirements
- Antepartum nursing skills including:
- Non-Stress Tests
- Telemetry interpretation
- Administration of blood and blood products
- Venous blood draws
- Peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
- Use of infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring
- Medication administration including anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, PCA use
- Foley catheter insertion
- Perineum care, wound assessment and care
- Vaginal delivery, cesarean section, multiple births
- Management of postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- PPE and isolation precautions
- Vaccine administration
- External fetal monitoring

- Gynecology/Urogynecology
- Maternal complications
- Post-op general surgery
- UTI/Pyelonephritis
- Cardiac monitored antepartum/postpartum patients
- Basic cardiac, neurological, orthopedic conditions
- Respiratory illnesses
- Established tracheostomy care (not new)
- Cellulitis and wound infections (with or without wound vac)
- Breast surgery
- Gynecologic oncology (no active chemotherapy)
- Plastic surgery
- Feeding and NG tubes
- Pediatrics (age 12 and older)
- Dialysis patients
- CIWA/COWS (withdrawal management)
- Chest tubes
- Para/quadriplegia and total care patients
- Patients requiring high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)

Additional Requirements & Notes
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- No public transportation nearby; candidates must have reliable transportation
- Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted via facility-specific form
- TB testing: Negative Qgold, Tspot, or PPD within 1 year; special requirements for past positive responders
- Immunizations required:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer required
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer required; history of disease not accepted
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
- Fit Mask: Required within 1 year of start; only specific N95 masks accepted; PAPR accommodation available if needed
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
- A 6-month break required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative travel work at this facility
- Overtime paid after 48 hours per week for contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
