MRI Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform high-quality MRI examinations on various patient populations following established protocols.
- Work under general supervision, reporting to site supervisor and radiology manager.
- Duties include general MRI exams and specialized imaging such as implants, elastography, defecography, breast, and cardiac MRI.
- Potential float between two nearby outpatient clinic locations.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, primarily 5 shifts of 8 hours (12:30 PM – 9:00 PM).
- Alternative shift options considered: 4x10-hour shifts (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM) or 3x12-hour shifts (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM).
- Saturday work required 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on some weeks, with adjusted weekday hours to maintain a 40-hour workweek.
- No call or holiday shifts required.
Required Qualifications
- MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Licensure & Certifications
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification mandatory; no state license required.
- BLS certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications as applicable.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, confirming fitness to work without restrictions.
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required).
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer; declination accepted for mumps and rubella only.
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
- Varicella vaccination, documented chickenpox history, or declination.
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (August 1 – March 31).
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.
Additional Information
- Radius rule: must live within 60 miles of the facility.
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Facility uses Epic for charting.
- Scrub code: teal top and black pants.
- Parking is free.
- Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting new or extension assignments.
Notes
- Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care until badge is received.
- Orientation modules must be completed within 5 days of start.
- Photo for badge must meet specific requirements and be submitted before start.
- All required documents and certifications must be submitted and approved prior to start.
This position is ideal for MRI technologists with at least 2 years of experience, certified in MRI, and comfortable working varied shifts including some Saturdays in an outpatient clinic setting.
