ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Alabama

Position Details
- Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience & Skills

Required Licenses & Certifications
- Alabama State RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System
- Meditech Expanse
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
- Background check: 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender registry, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal
- Education verification (diploma or full transcripts)
- Nursys verification (for RNs)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (no onsite fit testing available)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required prior to or during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), declinations accepted with mask requirement
- COVID-19 vaccination: Fully vaccinated by March 15, 2022, with facility-specific medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Facility-specific COVID-19 vaccine medical or religious exemption forms if applicable
- Alabama Shirley’s Law APS Clearance (Adult Protective Services registry) clearance required prior to orientation, including hand-signed registry form with witness signature
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- Experience in ventilator management
- Experience in drip management
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
- Experience in post cardiac catheterization care
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Completed employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
- Performance evaluations if previously worked with the agency over 1 year
- Internal evaluations if previously worked with the agency over 2 years
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance documentation
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with critical care skills, ventilator and cardiac care experience, and who are comfortable working night shifts in a travel contract role. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
