Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (Travel)

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM), floating required
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care during antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases of obstetrical care.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe delivery of care.
  • Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
  • Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
  • Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
  • Floating between units is required.
  • No call responsibilities.

Unit Details

  • Unit includes 1 Triage bed, 3 Labor beds, and 4 Postpartum beds.
  • Patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:4.
  • Scope of care includes antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum (mother and baby), and special care nursery babies.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems used: MedHost (inpatient), GE Centricity (OB), Athena (Clinic).
  • Scrubs: Any color full uniform scrubs allowed; no t-shirts or hoodies; only undershirts permitted under scrub tops.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications

  • 48-hour weekly guarantees are not approved.
  • Blocked scheduling is not approved.
  • Auto offers only; no interviews.
