Description
Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM)
Hours per week: 36
Job Description
- Provide total care for ICU patients in a 12-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Manage ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene
- Floating required to Emergency Room (ER) and Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) departments
- ER float duties: assist with call lights, medication passing, patient transport, IV starts, blood draws (no patient assignments)
- Med Surg float duties: either take a full patient assignment (up to 6 patients) or act as an aide (up to 12 patients)
- No call required
- Holidays required
- EMR system used: MedHost
- Scrub color: Any
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing
- Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Blocked scheduling may be accommodated but must be included in the submission
- A float log is maintained in the ICU to track floating assignments; exceptions may be made based on staffing needs
- 48-hour grace hours are not approved
Summary
This is a night-shift travel ICU RN position requiring strong critical care skills, flexibility to float to ER and Med Surg units, and compliance with New Mexico state fingerprinting requirements. The role demands at least 2 years of ICU experience along with ER and Med Surg exposure, plus current BLS and ACLS certifications.
