Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area, including different medical centers
• Patient population includes CABG (coronary arterial bypass grafting), ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator), pacemaker, cardiac drips, and vascular surgical patients
• Patient ratios: Days 1:4, Nights 1:6
• Unit is a telemetry tech monitoring unit with 24 beds
• Experience with cardiac drips such as Nitro, Cardene, Heparin, Diltiazem, Dopamine, etc.
• Scrubs color: Navy blue solids
• Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
• Orientation date provided (example: 7/20)
• Use of EPIC electronic medical record system required
• Equipment experience required includes Alaris IV pump and wound vac
• Call back and on-call pay policies apply (not included here per instructions)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment within the previous 18 months
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current ACLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience using EPIC electronic medical record system

• Must comply with employee separation policy regarding prior employment within the health system
• Must be available for quick interview scheduling
• Required to float to other campuses as needed, including Iowa Lutheran and other local medical centers
