Pediatric Echo Tech (Cardiac Sonographer) - Travel/Contract
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Pediatric Echocardiography (Radiology / Cardiology)
- Typical daily caseload: 4-10 patients
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with staggered start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- Floating required: work at both main hospital and a North Charleston clinic
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric echocardiography, including experience within the last year
- Registered Pediatric Sonographer certification required: ARDMS (PE) or CCI (RCCS), must be active at start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Annual flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if prior positive
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
Background and Verification
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including multiple specific searches
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
- Primary source verification of state license required
- NURSYS verification required for applicable licenses
Documentation and Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Passport-style badge photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
- All certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; renewals or scheduled courses required if expiring soon
Additional Notes
- Radiation badge not required for Pediatric Echo Techs at this facility
- Travelers assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November), with peak activity in August and September
- Local radius considered 60 miles; local candidates accepted case-by-case
- First-time travelers accepted for this position
