Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Springfield, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Unit Type: Level II Trauma Operating Room
  • Busiest Service Lines: Orthopedics (including total joints), Neurosurgery (including craniotomies), General/Trauma, Vascular, Endovascular/Hybrid, Gynecology/Urology, Robotics, ENT/Plastics, Ophthalmology
  • Procedures: High acuity ortho, neuro, and general cases performed continuously as part of Level II Trauma certification
  • Equipment: DaVinci Robotics (4 active robot rooms), Doppler, Ultrasound, Neptune, Aquamantis, Video Systems, Lasers, Various Stapling Systems, Hana and Jackson tables, Neuro Beds with Attachments, Cryoablation
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Orientation: Held bi-weekly on Mondays
  • On-Call: Required, up to four 8-hour shifts per 4-week cycle
  • Floating: Not required
  • Locals Accepted: No
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • Parking: Free

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
  • Orthopedic trauma experience
  • Neurosurgery trauma experience
  • Experience in OB/GYN, Urology, ENT Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Ophthalmology specialties
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

  • Background checks including Social Security verification, criminal history, and federal/state screenings required within 60 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 fit testing onsite if needed)
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (includes multiple panels; marijuana testing required for Oregon candidates)
  • Immunizations and health documentation required or declinations accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • TB screening: Negative IGRA or 2 PPDs within 1 year, or negative chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire if positive history
  • Orientation modules and quizzes must be completed with 100% score prior to start
  • Various facility-specific forms and checklists must be completed prior to start (e.g., criminal disclosure, demographic form, dress code policy, workplace violence prevention plan)
  • Photo for badge required (passport style with white or gray background)

  • Orientation manual and quizzes must be reviewed and passed before starting
  • Candidates must sign various exemption or declination forms if applicable (flu, COVID-19, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, TDAP)
  • Candidates must complete all required background checks and health screenings as per facility and agency policies

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room RNs with strong trauma and specialty surgical experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity Level II trauma environment.
