Position Details
- Job Title: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
- Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Beds: 426 staffed beds

Job Description
- Work schedule includes 4x10 hour shifts with required call coverage.
- Call requirements: 6-9 days per month, 36-hour call shifts, plus 24-hour on-call coverage on weekends.
- Cath Lab operates 24/7 for cardiac emergencies; weekday call from 5:15 PM to 7 AM, weekend call is 24 hours.
- Cath Lab performs invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures including diagnostic/interventional catheterizations, stent implants, IABP, Impella, EKOS, Rotablator, IVUS, FFR, Penumbra, Pericardiocentesis, Shockwave, IVC filters, TEEs, Cardioversions, TAVRs, and MitraClips.
- Common patient diagnoses: Coronary Artery Disease, Myocardial Infarction, Unstable Angina, Aortic/Mitral Valve Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Knowledge and competency in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Required Compliance & Training
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Education Verification.
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated candidates.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start and annually thereafter (clean shaven required).
- Immunizations and health documentation:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Tdap vaccination preferred for certain specialties (not required here)
- Hepatitis B proof or declination accepted
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Required facility-specific training modules and attestations including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry)
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain campuses)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RNs except Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (if gap >6 months or updated module)
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
- EPIC Testing (optional but highly encouraged for those with EPIC experience)

- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days.
- Verification of last 7 years of employment (attestations not accepted).
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for Cath Lab staff.
- References per standard protocol.
