Respiratory Therapist Position - Martinsburg, West Virginia

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend (nights Fri/Sat/Sun, days Sat/Sun) and every other holiday
• Call: No call required

Work Environment & Patient Population

• Level III NICU with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Assignments vary across multiple floors including ICU and pediatrics
• Team-oriented environment emphasizing integrity, teamwork, and patient-centered care
• Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7

Clinical Responsibilities

• Independently intubate adult patients
• Provide respiratory care treatments including oxygen therapy, humidity therapy, airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, postural drainage, chest physiotherapy, BiPAP, CPAP, nebulizers, inhalers, and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Perform EKGs during off-hours (5pm to 7am) and weekends (excluding ER)
• Set up and manage respiratory equipment such as Servo U, Hamilton G5, Hamilton T1 transport ventilator, Phillips Respironics V60 BiPAP, and high flow systems (AirVo & MaxTech)
• No pulmonary function testing (PFT) duties required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) verification required; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) accepted only if license held prior to July 1, 2022
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• PALS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required starting 12/15/2025

Experience Requirements

• Must be able to intubate adults independently
• Prior Level 2-3 NICU experience including ventilator management required
• Pediatric floor care and adult experience preferred; candidates with older NICU experience and no pediatric experience will be considered

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Driver’s license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after completing a full year at this facility
• Travel teams must be submitted together
• Only two candidates can be submitted per opening; submissions may be held if position is full
• Any license issues must be disclosed at time of submission
• Unit-specific orientation includes 3 to 12-hour shifts with individual patient assignments per floor (ER, ICU, 2nd floor)
• Scrub color: Gray
• Floating to other units may be required; NICU experience preferred

• EPIC system used
