Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Total hours per week: 36
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience (highest requirement)
- IV start skills required
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
- May be required to float to other units
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA only
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (no 2-year expiration; use 3/3/3000 expiration)
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- License verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required using Ohio code 3701.881, must be completed within 1 year of start
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA) required
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12) required; exemptions not allowed for those working with infants or pregnant patients
- 2 doses or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) required; boosters if low titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempted with documentation
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series required; signed declination acceptable
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); mask required if declining
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
- Annual fit mask test required for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026; onsite fit testing available if needed
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit (check with recruiter)
Additional Information
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
- May be required to float to other units
- Parking permits available for agency staff (costs and options subject to change)
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
