Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Spokane, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Float: Position may float between units
  • Weekend Requirement: Some weekend shifts required
  • On-Call: Not required
  • Block Schedules: Not required
  • Patient Ratios: Labor 1:2, Antepartum 1:3
  • Special Requirements:
    • Experience with Acute Care High Risk Labor and Delivery
    • Management of antepartum conditions such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples
    • Experience with VBAC/TOLAC
    • Active management of laboring patients including induction and augmentation
    • Handling maternal emergencies
  • 48-hour shifts: Not approved

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Antepartum experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and Testing:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
  • Drug Screening: 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates; includes virtual questionnaire reviewed by healthcare professional
  • Fit Mask Testing: Required annually for travel candidates; onsite testing available if no valid record exists

Background and Compliance

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • State-Specific Checks: Washington State Patrol Search within 90 days of start, updated every 2 years for certain facility types
  • Education Verification: Third-party verification required for nursing degree
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format; 7 years required for advanced practice nurses or subcontractors
  • References: Must align with specialty and cover required timeframes
  • Work History Verification: Required if exceptions to reference requirements are requested

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required prior to start
  • Float Policy: Acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities
  • Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training: Completion of required Workramp modules annually, including system, regional, and specialty-specific training pathways
  • Epic Training: Completion of Epic modules required within one week of orientation (if applicable)

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs comfortable with high-risk obstetric care and flexible scheduling including some weekends and floating between units.
