PICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Akron, Ohio
Job Details
- Position: PICU Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Akron, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to an additional nearby location
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement completed
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid government-issued photo ID must be carried on assignment
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national criminal, nationwide sex offender, and education verification
- Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint results required within 1 month of start; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and must be updated annually or after breaks in service over 30 days
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 30 days or 1 year respectively; chest X-ray if TB positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccinations
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series proof, or signed declination
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccinations
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; new screen required after breaks in service over 30 days
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Nov 15 - May 31)
- Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams must be completed and updated annually
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
- References: Two positive professional references required, including at least one from the most recent employer
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care in a similar area
Additional Requirements
- Must sign facility-specific agreements including computer security, HIPAA/confidentiality, and float policy
- Must complete facility-specific non-employee personal information form within 72 hours of contract signing to initiate access
- Fingerprint clearance attestation required for Ohio
- PCAR (Pediatric Care After Resuscitation) certification preferred for PICU
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred for PICU and ER
This position requires a highly qualified PICU RN with pediatric critical care experience, appropriate licensure, certifications, and prior travel experience. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and facility-specific documentation is mandatory. Floating to an additional location is required.
