Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Position may float between units based on needs and skill set.
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- No on-call or block schedules required.
- Patient ratio expected: 1 nurse to 4 patients.
- Must have reliable vehicle for assignment.
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care with 418 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Parking: No fee.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for assignment.
Floating and Travel Requirements
- Floating to other units and facilities within reasonable distance is expected.
- Facilities include multiple locations in Oregon (Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, Saint Vincent).
- Floating to Seaside facility includes additional incentives and accommodations.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
- E-Verify attestation required.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation.
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable (e.g., Oregon Abuse/Neglect Search if assigned to certain facilities).
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination accepted.
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations allowed with adherence to masking policies.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
- Fit mask testing required for travel assignments, updated annually.
Competencies and Training
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required annually.
- Epic training modules must be completed as assigned.
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS.
Additional Notes
- No 48-hour shifts approved.
- Scrub color: Any color allowed except OR/L&D where scrubs are provided.
- Badge photo required for facility access.
- Floating policy acknowledgment required.
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses seeking a travel contract in Oregon with night shifts and floating opportunities across multiple acute care units.
