Description
Physical Therapist – Adult Outpatient
Location: Juneau, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 40 hours per week; shifts vary Monday–Friday 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Job Summary
- Provide general physical therapy evaluations and treatments across a wide range of ages and diagnoses.
- Assess patients, perform evaluations, identify therapy diagnoses, and develop and implement treatment plans with goals.
- Supervise and modify therapy plans based on patient response to optimize outcomes.
- Oversee and direct Physical Therapist Assistants and other designated staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate care, including arranging medical equipment prior to discharge.
- Document patient encounters, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses according to policy.
- Work with both inpatient and outpatient populations in various settings.
- Develop and conduct patient and family education and therapy programs, including clear home exercise instructions with feedback and demonstration.
- Assist in administrative matters, clinic operations, and specialty/research areas as needed.
- Maintain clinical supplies, equipment, and cleanliness of clinical space.
- Stay current with billing procedures related to Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers.
- Provide therapy consultations, presentations, and in-services to medical staff and interdisciplinary personnel.
- Adhere to regulatory and practice standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
- Participate in quality assurance and confidentiality standards and related functions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Alaska
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- Experience in supervisory roles
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver’s license
Additional Information
- Applicants must live at least 50 miles away from the work location to be eligible.
- Housing and flights are not provided.
