Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Clinic-based role focused on oncology care.
• Candidates must have infusion experience or oncology telephone/clinic workflow expertise.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call required).
• Floating required across multiple infusion centers within East Tennessee (including Maryville, Lenoir City, Downtown, Oak Ridge, and others).
• Holiday time off requests during specified holidays will not be accommodated.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - must be current and uploaded as an actual certificate (no screenshots/photos).
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification (required before or shortly after offer).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (can be obtained after offer).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Tennessee.
• Infusion or oncology clinic experience required.
• Must be able to float to multiple infusion centers as needed.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check completed within 45 days of start date, including a 7-year history with multiple specific searches (SSN trace, national/state sex offender, criminal, abuse registry, etc.). Alias name attestation required if applicable.
• Drug screening within 45 days of start, covering a comprehensive panel of substances with MRO signature required.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by an MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA confirming fitness for duty.
• Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year of start; chest x-ray and questionnaire if prior positive.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer.
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine required for all starts between September 1 and April 1; exemptions only for approved medical or religious reasons (declinations not accepted).
• Competency exams required: Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG (80%+ score), Core Parts I, II, and III (80%+ pass rate).
• Color Blind Testing within 12 months prior to start (100% score required).
• Skills checklist updated within the last year, unit-specific.
• Two supervisory references from the past 3 years required.
• Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details.
• Photo for badge: passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings.
• Utility bill or lease/mortgage statement required if candidate’s address is more than 75 miles from the contracted facility.

Additional Notes

• Orientation is bi-weekly.
• Candidates will have the opportunity to speak with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) before accepting or starting the assignment.
• Local candidates (within 75 miles) have a different pay consideration (not included here).
