Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Bend, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide specialized nursing care in oncology, including administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products.
- Proficient in care, maintenance, and accessing of central lines.
- Work schedule: Day shift, 4 days per week, 9.5-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Oregon.
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required.
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Completion of oncology-specific continuing education units (CEUs) required each accreditation cycle to support Cancer Center accreditations.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in intravenous nursing or equivalent in oncology, medical-surgical, critical care, or home infusion settings.
- Proficiency with central line care and access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Nurse Society certification (OCN).
- 2 years of oncology-focused intravenous nursing experience including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products administration.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 90 days of start; updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start.
- Education verification including diploma or transcript on file.
- Primary source verification of RN license (NURSYS verification required).
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed and on file within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start.
- Passport-style photo required for badge within 48 hours of signing.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster or declination acceptable for low/equivocal titers)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer required; vaccine series alone not acceptable)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster or declination acceptable for low/equivocal titers)
- Negative TB screening (QGold within 1 year) or chest X-ray for positive responders; TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination/exemption required during flu season (deadline 12/01).
- COVID vaccination preferred but not required; vaccination record or declination/exemption required.
- Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year of start and annually.
Competency and Certification Exams
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Other competency exams as applicable by specialty.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications as required per unit description (AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable).
