Description

Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift Options:
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours (4x12)
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12) from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM (Day shift)
  • Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
  • On-call: Yes, rotating call as needed with staff and agency; flexible frequency based on census
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
  • Pending license not accepted; must have active license
  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health record system

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
  • Magnet designated hospital
  • Total staffed beds: 562
  • Scrub color provided
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including multiple state and national registries, required within 30 days of start
  • State-specific criminal and offender registry searches required within 30 days of start
  • Fingerprinting required in Illinois within 3 business days prior to start for clinical candidates without an Illinois state license

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Valid, active state license required (primary source verification)
  • Professional references: 2 required for clinical candidates
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Badge photo required before start (color photo, mid-shoulders up, plain background)
  • Completion of computer-based learning modules before or on first day of orientation
  • Signed code of conduct and parking permit forms required within 7 days of contract signing

Additional Notes

  • First-time travel clinicians accepted
  • Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay adjustment
  • Call shifts count as called-off shifts if replacing scheduled shifts
  • No interventional radiology (IR) procedures included in this role

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
