Unit Information

• 43 beds
• Patient ratios:

  • Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
  • Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
  • IMC Day and Night: 1:3
• Patient types include respiratory, medical telemetry, some surgical cases, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
• Equipment used: ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, tracheostomy care and maintenance
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Epic

Job Responsibilities

• Float requirements:

  • IMC RNs may float to other IMC units or med/surg units as needed
  • Med/Surg RNs may float to other med/surg units with similar level of care
• Must be able to interpret telemetry strips and provide tracheostomy care
• IMC RNs must have experience with ventilators

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maine
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
