Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call Requirement: 6-9 call days per month, including 36-hour call shifts and 24-hour weekend call coverage
  • Cath Lab operates 24/7 for cardiac emergencies
  • Float to nearby campus as needed
  • Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrubs Provided
  • Free Parking

Unit Description

  • Work in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Suite with two cath labs
  • Procedures include diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterizations, stent implants, IABP, Impella, EKOS, Rotablator, IVUS, FFR, Penumbra, Pericardiocentesis, Shockwave, IVC filters, TEEs, Cardioversions, TAVRs, and MitraClips (in conjunction with hybrid OR)
  • Patient population: Adults with Coronary Artery Disease, Myocardial Infarction, Unstable Angina, Aortic/Mitral Valve Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
  • Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

  • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
  • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
  • Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
  • CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
  • Preventing Pressure Injury Training
  • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
  • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain campuses)
  • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
  • New Employee Orientation Module
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
  • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
  • eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
  • Chaperone Policy Training
  • Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026 and forward)

Background and Employment History Requirements

  • 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Verification of last 7 years of employment (attestations not accepted)
  • 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months of start, including multiple national and state checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for Cath Lab and other specified units

References

  • Follow standard reference requirements; for RRT candidates, one reference must be from a supervisor

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Cath Lab experience
  • Prior travel experience: Not required
