Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Patient Age Group: Adults
- Schedule:
- 40 hours per week
- Weekday shifts: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (4 days x 10 hours)
- Weekend shifts: May be required (2 weekends out of a 6-week schedule), 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM with possible extended hours
- On-call: Required as needed on weekdays (5:00 PM – 7:00 AM) and weekends (1:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Required certifications:
- ARDMS, CCI, or RCS
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- HARD STOP: Phillips ultrasound system experience required
- Must hold a valid state license for Cardiac Sonographer (Sonographer license verification required from ARDMS or CCI)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination as required (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Background checks: Comprehensive checks including SSN trace, county searches, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and others as applicable
- References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Employment application and skills checklist required and must be current
Additional Requirements & Information
- Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-timers (First-timer candidates are NOT eligible)
- Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Scrub color: Navy
- On-call and weekend coverage required as part of the schedule
- Competency exams and unit-specific testing required during orientation
- Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Badge photo submission required for certain roles (not applicable here)
- Completion of online modules prior to orientation is mandatory
- Candidate must complete all required competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training may be required depending on unit (training provided onsite if needed)
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Cardiac Sonographer with at least 1 year of experience and Phillips ultrasound system expertise. The role requires weekday day shifts with some weekend and on-call responsibilities. Candidates must have current ARDMS or CCI certification, BLS, and meet comprehensive health, immunization, background, and drug screening requirements. First-time travelers are not eligible. Orientation and facility access require completion of specific onboarding steps including guest account setup and competency exams.
