Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: South Bend, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Unit: 7th Floor Intermediate Care (Step Down) – True cardiac floor
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Floating: May float to like or lesser acuity units within scope
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Telemetry experience
- Some cardiac drip experience
- Stroke nursing experience
Candidate Requirements
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
- Physical exam required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (T-spot tests not accepted)
- Required immunizations or titers with boosters if low: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start and documentation on file by December 15
- Completion of facility-specific modules (approx. 8-10 hours) prior to start
- Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement prior to start
- Review and sign receipt of Agency Resource Guide
Additional Information
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: Free overnight parking in designated associate areas; $9/day for day shift garage parking
- Scrub color: Royal Blue or White
- Must complete on-site EKG exam covering cardiac conduction system and dysrhythmia identification (pass/fail testing)

This travel RN position on a cardiac step-down unit requires strong telemetry and cardiac nursing skills, including cardiac drip management and rhythm identification.
