Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Location: Pomona, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts)
- Weekend Requirement: None
- On-Call: 5 weekday nights and 1 full weekend every 6 weeks
- Orientation: 2 days
- Floating: May be required between two campuses approximately 12 miles apart
- Daily Case Load: 7-15 cases
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
- ARRT (R) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience with IR, Hybrid OR, Scrub, and Special Procedures
- Equipment, inventory, and supply management
- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) proficiency
- Procedural workflow including:
- Room circulator duties
- Scrub procedures and maintaining sterile field/technique
- Prep of access sites and equipment setup
- Accurate patient monitoring
- Use of vascular closure systems (e.g., Perclose, StarClose)
- Vascular access skills:
- Venous access, port management
- Central venous access including non-tunneled and PICC lines care and maintenance
- Interventional procedures including:
- Abdominal & visceral angiography and interventions (e.g., adrenal angiography, angioplasty, chemoembolization, embolization, liver biopsy, stent placement)
- Genitourinary angiography and drainage procedures (e.g., nephrostomy, ureteral stent placement)
- Vascular interventions (e.g., carotid stenting, dialysis graft creation/revision, thrombolysis, TIPS)
Additional Requirements and Information
- Travelers may be required to make up missed shifts during the same week or at the end of the assignment
- Parking is provided at each facility
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted (local rates apply)
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- E-Verify or attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
- Background check within 30 days of start (7-year search, including international if applicable)
- Education verification required
- Physical exam (medical clearance) within 1 year of start
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (not required for lab or sterile processing techs)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31), with medical/religious exemptions accepted upon approval
- Signed HIPAA statement and orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Pass/fail in-house skills assessment during orientation (failure may result in contract cancellation)
- Work history documenting 2 years of recent, relevant experience
- Two current references from supervisors or educators within the past 2 years
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- No weekend shifts required except on-call rotation
- The role involves working in a Level II Trauma Center with a comprehensive interventional radiology program
