Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Paramus, New Jersey
Job Details
- Position: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
- Location: Paramus, New Jersey
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (8:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
- On-Call: Approximately 1 day per week and one weekend per month; must live within 30 minutes of facility for on-call coverage
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including national and state criminal, sex offender, OIG Sanction, SAM.gov, and OFAC searches
- Education Verification:
- Verification of highest level of education required; diploma may be used as placeholder if verification is pending
- References:
- Two professional references required: one supervisory within last 12 months, one professional within last 3 years
- Employment History:
- Verification of last 7 years of employment required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required
Health & Safety Requirements (Must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Physical exam or statement of health signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP confirming fitness for duty
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no rapid tests accepted)
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- COVID-19: Completed initial series and booster (no exemptions)
- Flu vaccine: Mandatory for current season (no religious or medical declinations accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred but not required
- TB testing: Annual Quantiferon Gold or T-spot within 6 months, or 2-step PPD within 6 months; chest x-ray if positive
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Pass/fail Telemetry Competency testing onsite (1 attempt allowed; failure results in contract cancellation)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam with minimum 80% score, updated annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam with minimum 80% score, updated annually (exemptions apply for certain units)
- Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) covering patient safety, HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, ethics, and more; 80% passing score required annually
- ECG Foundations exam (Relias) required to prepare for onsite pass/fail testing
- Onsite medication exam required
Additional Requirements
- COVID vaccination card required at time of submission
- Interviews must be completed prior to receiving an offer
- Must be within 75 miles for local rate consideration
- Must be able to provide interview availability at submission
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Cath Lab Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of dedicated Cath Lab interventional experience and critical care skills. The role requires day shifts with on-call responsibilities and strict compliance with health, safety, and competency requirements. Candidates must hold a valid NJ or compact RN license and current ACLS and BLS certifications. Comprehensive background checks, immunizations, and competency testing are mandatory.
