Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call required, including weekends and after hours
  • Must be able to report to work within 30 minutes of being called

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Interventional Radiology (IR) alongside a multidisciplinary team
  • Support routine and emergent IR, Cath, and GI procedural cases
  • Ability to ride the aerial tram and move throughout the shift
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments during the shift
  • Work independently and collaboratively with physicians and team members
  • Manage complex patient care coordination
  • Serve as a role model supporting the facility’s vision and mission
  • Efficiently manage time to move patients through the system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Critical Care, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Emergency Department (ED), or Procedural nursing
  • Experience in Gastroenterology and Cardiac Cath Lab nursing
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with physicians
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and conflict management
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and maintain professionalism
  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess patient conditions and handle emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience caring for patients undergoing IR procedures and managing associated complications
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and fluoroscopy
  • Experience with IR procedures related to gastrointestinal bleeding, stroke, and trauma
  • Previous Charge RN experience in ICU, PACU, or ED
  • Participation in Shared Governance councils or committees
  • High emotional intelligence and effective self-direction
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Skilled in providing and receiving constructive feedback and conflict resolution
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
  • Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification
  • National sex offender search and other federal/state checks completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification required (BSN preferred)
  • Two professional references from supervisors within the last 24 months (Charge RN references not accepted unless direct supervisor)
  • Work history covering at least 7 years, including city and state for each position
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (including privacy, harassment prevention, and role-specific training)
  • Completion of medication override test and respirator clearance documentation (if applicable)
  • Compliance with professional appearance policy and coronavirus protocol attestation
  • Annual drug screening (10-panel with methamphetamines) within 3 months prior to start
  • Required immunizations or signed declinations: Tdap, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months prior to start, plus TB questionnaire
  • Fit mask testing completed within one year prior to start (N95 or equivalent)

Additional Notes

  • Must be fully available for compliance needs up to start date; notify recruiter of any planned unavailability
  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess patient conditions and handle emergencies
  • Must maintain professional demeanor and effective communication at all times
