Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week (12 hours each)
- Shift hours: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Scheduled days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
- Call and late days required
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Operating Room
- Required experience: Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma
- Craniotomy and burr hole experience required

Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
- Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CHEMO, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification (refer to job details for applicability)
- Pass/Fail testing required for Telemetry RNs (if applicable)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color Blind Testing (online version accepted)
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific checks required within 30 days of start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (exemptions accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start (no pending results allowed)
- Drug screen upon arrival including marijuana; positive result is automatic cancellation
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, confidentiality, compliance, patient-centered pledge, background check authorization, traveler ID form)
- Employment application/resume required
- Two professional references within 3 years required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Texas-specific employability and misconduct registry checks required within 30 days of start

- Orientation includes mandatory modules (~3-4 hours)
- Parking available at no cost during and after orientation
