Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Day/Evening rotating shifts (combination of 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts to total 40 hours per week)
• Typical shifts include Day (4x10 hours, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM) and Day (3x12 hours, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Call and weekend shifts as needed (not guaranteed 4 10-hour shifts)

Job Description

• Provide high-quality nursing care in a day/evening rotating schedule
• Assist with circulating and scrubbing during surgeries
• Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC electronic health record system
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Scrub a variety of surgical services including:

  • Surgical Oncology
  • Thoracic
  • Colorectal
  • Urology
  • GYN Oncology
  • Head & Neck / ENT
  • Neurosurgery
  • Orthopedics
  • Plastics / Reconstructive
  • Robotics

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience with circulating and scrubbing during surgeries
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or instructor accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit (check with recruiter)
• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start (for RNs; may not apply to this role)
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually
• National certification for Surgical Technologists not required, but other tech certifications may apply depending on role and start date

Background & Screening Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide search, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific code for home health agency
• Education accreditation verification required for nursing degrees (accredited by CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
• Annual TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
• Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12) required; declination not accepted for those working with infants or pregnant patients
• 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medical exemption documented
• Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series; signed declination acceptable
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear mask at all times
• Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond; onsite fit testing available if needed
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

• Parking permits available for agency staff (costs and options subject to change)
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
• Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
• Background checks and credential verifications are closely monitored and must be current

This position is ideal for experienced surgical technologists or OR techs with strong multi-specialty surgical skills, EPIC proficiency, and flexibility to work varied shifts including call and weekends.
