Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Total hours per week: 36

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience (highest requirement)
  • IV start skills required
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
  • May be required to float to other units

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA only
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – no 2-year expiration; use facility-specific expiration
  • State Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (prior to start)
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (within 1 year of start, with remediation process if needed)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred (not required)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Tdap vaccine (adult dose) required; exemptions not allowed for those working with infants or pregnant patients
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella (with booster requirements if low titer)
  • Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Facility Requirements

  • Annual acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
  • Fit mask testing required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment (to be confirmed by clinical lead)

Parking

  • Various parking permit options available for agency staff (costs and details subject to change)

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • IV start capability
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

This position offers a structured 13-week travel contract with a focus on Labor and Delivery nursing in a large academic medical center setting. Candidates must meet strict clinical, certification, and compliance standards to qualify.
