Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), with variable end times depending on procedure completion
- On-call: No
- Weekend Requirement: No
- Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 3 years of Electrophysiology Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association
Experience & Travel Requirements
- First-time travelers are accepted
- No prior travel experience required
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute care hospital with 304 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrubs: Hospital-issued for EP Lab
- Parking: No fee; parking pass provided at badge pickup; garages available with average SUV clearance
- Local radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam within 90 days of start, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with appropriate follow-up
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Annual respirator medical clearance (RespSafety questionnaire)
Compliance & Documentation
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international searches if applicable
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3)
- Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Radiation badge ordering process must be initiated prior to start; badge delivery may take 5-7 days
- Photo for badge: passport-style, frontal view, solid light background, no hats or sunglasses
Orientation & Onboarding
- Completion of facility-specific first day instructions and online modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to orientation
- Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed before start, including confidentiality and contractor forms
- Physical assessment form required for sterile processing (if applicable)
- All certifications must be current and not expire within 30 days of start date
Additional Notes
- Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extended assignments during this period if this is a concern
- Facility may call off one shift every two weeks; called-off hours can be combined to equal one shift
- Block scheduling accommodations possible with manager approval based on unit needs
