Description
Registered Nurse – ER (Travel/Contract)
Location: Friday Harbor, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Start Date: ASAP (Orientations held bi-weekly on Tuesdays)
- Must be comfortable floating to Medical-Surgical (MS) units and caring for MS patients
- First-time travelers accepted; however, prior travel experience is highly preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC
- NIHSS
- Medical-Surgical experience
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check required within 60 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, counties/states lived/worked, federal and national criminal checks)
- Social Security verification required before or at start
- Education verification of highest degree related to nursing specialty
- Washington State Patrol check must be run within 90 days prior to start
- Must sign SSA release form
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 fit testing completed onsite)
- Negative TB test (IGRA or 2 PPDs) within 1 year or negative chest x-ray if TB positive, plus annual TB questionnaire
- Required vaccinations or documented immunity/declination for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (immunity, vaccination, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panels required)
- COVID-19 vaccine religious exemption forms required if applicable
Orientation and Training
- Must complete a mandatory orientation test with a 100% score prior to start (delivered via WorkRamp)
- Review and comply with facility policies including:
- Dress code
- Personnel restrictions due to illness
- Masking policy (clean-shaven for N95 use)
- Workplace violence prevention plan
- Daily responsibilities and MyTime resources
Additional Notes
- Passport-style photo required for badge (white or gray background)
- ID badge and parking forms must be completed prior to start
- Must complete and submit various facility-specific forms including criminal disclosure and demographic forms
- Respirator clearance required for onsite workers, updated annually
- Must complete and submit confirmation of standards checklist
