Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Night Shift)

Location: Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

• Telemetry Registered Nurse position working night shifts (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Requires 2 years of experience in Telemetry specialty
• Provides care for patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring and management

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - must be updated annually

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Skills and Competencies

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams
• Care and management of pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
• Post cardiac angiogram, MI, cardiac catheterization, and cardiac surgery care
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) care
• IV insulin protocols and blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care and management
• Starting and maintaining IVs, heparin protocols
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Post TPA care and CVA (stroke) management
• Seizure disorder and substance withdrawal care
• Management of surgical drains, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Isolation precautions and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Wound care including wound vac

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Telemetry nursing
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Pennsylvania

Health and Background Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within 1 year
• Annual TB questionnaire if applicable
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 15-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or accepted declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search clearance required
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint results required

Additional Facility Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific orientation checklists and training modules prior to start
• Completion of competency assessments including medication/pharmacology exams (minimum 80% passing score)
• Completion of various mandatory trainings such as:

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Workplace Violence Prevention (completed onsite)
  • Skin integrity, mobility, catheter care, interdisciplinary plans of care, and cardiac procedure education
• Submission of government-issued photo ID and emergency contact form prior to start
• Facility will provide first week’s schedule and badge photo requirements

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each)

This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs seeking a travel contract opportunity with a focus on cardiac and critical care nursing in a hospital setting.
