Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics for a travel contract position. The role requires working every other holiday and every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 1 year of Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience in an acute care setting
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Counties, States, Nationwide Criminal Search
- Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification
- State-specific PATCH and Medicheck searches (Pennsylvania)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire.
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint clearance required within 90 days of start.
- Child Abuse Search (Pennsylvania) required within 90 days of start.
- Education verification for highest level completed.
- Employment application with 7 years of complete work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days.
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start.
- Negative drug screen (10-panel or 9-panel without THC) within 60 days of start.
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series (declinations not accepted)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable (QGold or T-Spot within 90 days or 2 PPDs with one within 90 days).
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required.
- Respirator medical clearance (RespSafety) required annually for respirator use.
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum score 80%) within 12 months of start.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (minimum score 88%) within 12 months of start.
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RNs and LVNs except certain specialties; relevant for RRT as clinical staff.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and Joint Commission training required annually.
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Fit Test Questionnaire for respirator use must be completed prior to start.
- Photo for badge (new candidates starting 3/31/2025 and later): recent, forward-facing, color photo with solid background.
- Badge request form (time sensitive for certain start dates).
- Affidavit for provisional employment must be completed prior to start.
- Declination forms required if declining COVID or flu vaccines.
Work Environment and Schedule
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift.
- Must work every other holiday and every other weekend.
