Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift) - Midland, Texas
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in the specialty
- Prior travel experience required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- NURSYS Verification required within 30 days of start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA accepted (Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA accepted (Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
- Other certifications may be required depending on assignment area (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) — verify based on specific clinical area
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 10-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace and all locations lived/worked
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal History Search within 30 days prior to start
- Texas Employee Misconduct Registry and Employability Status Check within 30 days prior to start
- Government-issued photo ID required
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Annual background check renewal required for travel candidates
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start; if positive, chest x-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); mask may be required if declined
- N95 Fit Test within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
Documentation & Orientation
- Candidate must review and sign confidentiality, security, drug screening consent, TB questionnaire, and compliance checklists prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and acknowledgment forms required before starting
- Skills checklist and competency exams required annually or within 1 year of start, including medication/pharmacology competency and age-specific competency exams
- Two professional references within 3 years of start required
- Copy of resume or employment application required
This position requires a dedicated Registered Nurse with travel experience, night shift availability, and compliance with extensive background, health, and certification requirements.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Certification in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Prior travel nursing experience
