Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU

Location

  • Cleveland, Ohio

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Day shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Option for 4x12 shifts may be available

Specialty & Patient Population

  • Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Work primarily in NICU, PICU, CVICU with pediatric patients
  • May float to other pediatric and neonatal units including rehabilitation and NICUs

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current NBRC credential (CRT or RRT)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Experience working with neonate patients

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Ohio Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license (must have license in hand)
  • Current NBRC credential (CRT or RRT)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA preferred, RQI acceptable but non-RQI preferred
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, required for NICU
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only, required for NICU
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for Emergency Department roles (if applicable)

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Must carry a valid government-issued photo ID while on assignment
  • Two fingerprintings required:
    • One onsite prior to start (especially for pediatric patient care)
    • One through agency
  • Criminal background check required prior to start and must be updated for breaks in service of 2+ months
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Transcript or diploma required for all candidates
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • HIPAA acknowledgement form required and must be updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (specific approved mask models required)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 6 months of start, renewed annually; additional TB questionnaire if history of positive TB
  • Immunization or titer proof required for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); no declinations accepted
  • Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references required
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually
  • I9/E-Verify attestation required

Onboarding & Training

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (4-5 hours, must be done on a computer using Chrome)
  • Modules include watching videos before tests; skipping videos will lock candidate out
  • Badge pickup required prior to start after module completion
  • TB test results needed to complete onboarding modules
  • Fingerprinting onsite is part of onboarding for pediatric patient care roles; must be completed promptly to avoid delays

Additional Notes

  • All work history, including any prior assignments at this facility, must be included in the candidate profile
  • Requests for time off and scheduling must be communicated during submission and interview
  • Candidates working with pediatric patients will complete fingerprinting onsite as one of the first onboarding tasks
  • PAPRs are not approved for failure due to facial hair; religious or medical exemptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis
