Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)

- Unit: High Risk Labor & Delivery, OB Triage/Testing, Antepartum
- Typical Patient Load:
- Labor & Delivery/Antepartum: 7-14 patients
- OB Triage: 5-10 patients (including 4-5 third trimester testing patients daily)
- Facility Type: Acute Hospital
- Beds: 407 staffed beds
- Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center
- Recognition: Magnet Facility, US News & World Report Best Hospital in Alaska

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certifications
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Work Schedule & Conditions
- Night shift primarily; schedule may flip every 4 weeks between nights and days if needed
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Time off requests approved individually and must be submitted with application
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- TDAP (within 10 years, declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
Background & Documentation
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must include SSN trace, death master index, sex offender registry, education verification, and more
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcripts or CES report
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in comparable specialty within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
- Various state-specific background and license verifications apply
Training & Competency
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam required for all L&D RNs
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS platform
- Epic charting system training required

- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities if needed
- Time off requests must be included with application submission
- Candidates must be able to meet all credentialing and compliance requirements prior to start
