Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location

• Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

• Travel contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Full-time, night shift (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: None
• Temp-to-perm possibility

Unit and Patient Population

• Cardiac and telemetry patients
• Not a stepdown unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 6 months of telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Job Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a telemetry setting
• Utilize the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers as needed
• Meet applicable nursing competencies and standards of practice

This position requires a competent RN with telemetry experience who can work independently on night shifts caring for cardiac and telemetry patients in a fast-paced environment. Prior travel experience is mandatory.
